How it works

* Initially, you contact Tippecanoe and provide the number of canoes needed, what days, start and end times and location of use.

* Using the information above we check our reservations log  for canoe availability.

* Based on availability, a quote of the charges is provided and a 50% deposit check by mail is requested.

* After we receive your mailed deposit, a receipt will be returned to you and your reservation is confirmed.

* At some point prior to your rental start date you will need to contact us to establish a meet time, reconfirm or change an already established meet time.

* We will meet you at our office building at the South Rolly Campground.  The remainder of any balance due will be paid upon your arrival. Cash or Check only!

* When you arrive, all individuals in your group will be required to sign our release form.  It is a good idea to get this done ahead of time for large groups.  We can mail forms if we have enough notice.

* At this point you will be issued paddles, vests and other equipment if required.  Safety information, locator maps, and equipment return information will be provided along with the keys for the canoes.

* Off you go.

Canoe Trail Tips

· Don’t bring coolers

· Pack lightweight and compact

· Use internal frame back packs

· Bring small amounts of water.  Collect more as needed.  Boil before use.

· Don’t wear hip waders while in canoe

· Use easy to dry hiking boots or sneakers with good soles.

· Bring extra socks and towels.

Other Important Stuff

Bug spray, warm clothes, rain gear

Folding camp saw, matches, toilet paper.

State Park rules allow the collecting of wood that is dead and down only.

More good stuff to know

Firewood may be hard to find around the cabins. You may have to make short trips with canoe to gather wood (please clean out canoe). Be sure to bring a good quality folding camp saw to help collect wood. You will also need matches and some type of dry material to get a fire started if wood is damp. State Park rules allow the collecting of wood that is dead and down only.  Bring a thick pad for use

under your sleeping bag, makes the wood bunks much more comfortable.  Don’t drink any lake water without using a trusted water filter or better yet, boil all

water at a full roll for at least 5 minutes.  Don’t forget toilet paper as the privies may be out.  Mosquitoes can be present within the cabin, a flying insect killer or

indoor space spray should resolve this problem (wait for odor to dissipate).
